Temperature Controlled Self Storage
Deciding what you need to store or what you would like to put into storage will determine the size and type of storage unit that you will need. The two most common types of utilized storage units are “non-temperature controlled” or “temperature-controlled”. After choosing the storage facility that best fits your storage needs, the next step is to choose the type of storage space that you will need and the best size to accommodate your item(s). (Using our Storage to Fit You; What size is right for you? guide can help you in determining what the right size storage space for your needs might be. Our professional customer service team is also an additional helpful resource. )
What is Temperature Controlled Storage?
Temperature controlled (also commonly known as climate controlled) self storage spaces are storage spaces that are in a temperature controlled environment with heating and air conditioning. The typical industry standard is to keep the temperature range between 40 and 85 degrees. At Hwy 43 Self Storage, our temperature controlled storage facilities are housed in an indoor, finished building where dirt and dust are less likely to penetrate. Our building provides the ideal solution for storing your personal or business-related items. We closely monitor humidity and have an excellent pest control program.
Many of your possessions can tolerate fluctuating temperatures but certain items may require a more temperature-controlled storage environment. Here is a sample of items you may wish to consider storing in temperature controlled storage spaces:
- Antique Furniture or general Antiques
- Important Paper Documents
- Photos and Videos
Wood, leather, fabrics and clothing also tend to be the types of possessions stored in temperature controlled spaces.
Pharmaceutical representatives and other types of businesses utilize temperature controlled spaces for excess inventory or business goods.
If you are planning on storing your items for more than a couple of months, considering the extreme temperature fluctuations of Wisconsin, choosing to store your valuable possessions in a temperature controlled storage space(s) might provide you with additional peace of mind.
At Hwy 43 Self Storage, our temperature controlled storage spaces are accessible after entering your access code at our secure gate and then again at the entry door. You are then able to open our garage door and drive your car into the enclosed garage, protecting yourself and your valuable possessions from the outdoor elements and providing easy loading and unloading.
Drive Up Storage
Our drive up storage spaces are all ground-floor level units and we offer several sizes. Many clients choose this style of storage space simply for the ease and convenience of loading and unloading directly from a vehicle. These spaces tend to be popular among businesses, retail stores and clients looking for a way to securely store extra items, many times items that are seasonal. Tools, contractor inventory, contractor equipment, outdoor furniture, cold weather gear, outdoor beach equipment, appliances, boats, water toys …are just a few examples of common items that are stored in drive-up storage spaces. Depending on the size of your space, you may even be able to park a vehicle inside. (When choosing to store a vehicle, there are a few additional requirements. Please ask us for more details.).
When you aren’t out on the open waters, you’ll need somewhere to keep your boat. We offer the cost-effective option of an outdoor parking space. With our outdoor parking spaces, your boat and trailer are assigned a specific parking space and you are allotted in and out privileges via a unique security code to our electronic keypads. Your boat will be exposed to the elements so you will want to invest in a boat cover. A cover with proper airflow tends to be a good way to protect against mildew and other potential problems. Look for a cover that is strong, water-resistant and made of a breathable material. (Boat covers are also a great, protective option to use during boating season itself, easily removed anytime you want to put your boat on the water.) During the winter, you may want to consider having your boat shrink wrapped. Similar to boat covers, you may want to ensure that your shrink-wrap allows for ventilation while protecting your boat from snow and rain. You can purchase a do-it-yourself kit or pay for professional shrink-wrapping. Our secure parking area is well lit, has wide aisles and is part of our fully fenced in facility which can only be accessed through our electronic keypads. All entries and exits by people are digitally logged.
Depending on the size of your boat and trailer, an option for consideration is an enclosed, outdoor storage space. This secure rental options is managed the same as the above outlined outdoor parking space, only your boat would be protected from exposure to the elements. Contact us with the complete measurements of your boat and trailer, and we will let you know if one of our enclosed storage spaces will work for your boat and trailer.
